Who are you when the role that shaped you no longer defines you?
Built from elite athletics, military leadership, and mindset work.
Try a New Path explores how conformity, doubt, fear, and comfort can keep us tied to roles we have outgrown, and what it takes to move forward with clarity, courage, and purpose.
Get Inside Try a New Path
A roadmap for accomplished people who feel the quiet pull toward something more.

Who It's For
This book is for you if:
- You've worked hard, hit goals, and still feel like something is quietly missing.
- You're facing a transition (i.e., retirement, a career pivot, an empty nest, a leadership crossroads) and you're not sure what comes next.
- You've been told to be grateful for what you have, but you can't shake the feeling that there's more.
- You're not lost or lazy, you're outgrowing a life that used to fit.
- You want a framework, not just inspiration, something that actually tells you what to do next.
What It Gives
By the time you finish the book, you will have:
- A name for what's holding you back: conformity, doubt, fear, or comfort, and a clear understanding of how each one works.
- Permission to want more, or different, even when the life you have still looks good on the outside.
- The Five Pillars of Growth, which are a practical foundation for building confidence and momentum before, during, and beyond the unknown
A Note from Shanelle
I wrote Try a New Path because I needed it.
The biggest transitions in my life did not begin when things fell apart or because I lost passion for what I was doing. They began with an internal pull I could no longer ignore. Athletics gave me a path. The military gave me a path. Both gave me structure, purpose, challenge, and clear ways to measure progress. I knew how to work hard inside systems that told me what came next.
What I did not know was how to move when the old life still worked.
That became the real challenge. Not starting over from nothing, but leaving behind roles, identities, and definitions of success that still looked valid from the outside. Not because they were wrong, but because they no longer fit who I was becoming.
I wrote this book from inside that tension, trying to answer the question of what happens when there is no clear map, no prescribed next step, and no title waiting, yet you still know you are being called forward. You all are getting a peek into what I cared about and thought about most during this transition.
Try a New Path is where that conversation begins. The Fifth Path is where the work continues.
